The Jeep Wrangler Fraternity

After owning more junkers than I care to remember I finally bought the one vehicle I had always wanted: a Jeep Wrangler.  I had no idea that my purchase included a lifetime membership to the unofficial Jeep Wrangler fraternity.  Within no time I began to notice that other Wrangler drivers would usually wave and smile, not all, but certainly most.  I enjoyed that kind of casual acknowledgement of our mutual taste in vehicles.  I did notice that the more customized the Jeep was the more apt the driver was to wave; evidently the custom guys are the most hardcore Jeep owners and are higher up in the fraternity.  On many occasions I would get into conversations with other friendly Jeep owners at a gas stations about custom work, off road experiences and other such things.

I didn't realize how serious this fraternity was until I recently got a flat tire on the highway. As I began to change the flat it didn't take 3 minutes for another Wrangler driver to pull over and offer to help. Ten minutes later there was another Wrangler that pulled over and I'm sure it started to look like some kind of an impromptu Jeep convention: three Wranglers and three guys changing one tire on the side of the highway.

So, consider this a plug for the Jeep Wrangler. Not only is it an excellent vehicle in every respect, but Jeep owners share their enthusiasm and have a certain bond. I'm thinking about canceling my AAA membership now that I'm in the Wrangler Fraternity!

I really don't know if any other vehicles have such a dedicated following, but it just goes to show you that Wranglers are something special.

Totally agree. Jeepers tend to be courteous toward each other.

Agreed, I didn't know about the fraternity until I bought my Wrangler and I've never felt cooler than riding with my buddies, waving at another Wrangler and everyone asking "hey did you know that guy" and I just smile and say no.
